Description of issue

This clause mentions the <draw:contour-polygon> and <draw:contour-path> elements. However the function of purpose elements is not defined except with the words "[t]hese elements describe the contour of an image or object."
Proposal

Provide a description of how a processor is to interpret these elements in an interoperable manner (by specifying how a contour is determined), or clarify that there is no interoperability intent and that interpretation is application-dependent.

9.3.8 says: "The elements are similar to the <draw:polygon> (see section 9.2.4) and <draw:path> (see section 9.2.6) elements, except that they specify a contour rather than a drawing shape. The attributes they support are the ones for the size, the viewbox, the points (contour polygon only) and the path (contour path only)."

Given the reference to 9.2.4 and 9.2.6 is should be obvious how the contour is defined.

Or is the confusion over what a contour is in general, as opposed to a draw shape?

This is related to OFFICE-1367.

I agree to Rob that the descriptions make clear how the contour is defined.

If the confusion is what the purpose of a contour is, we may add the note we added to ODF 1.2 (see OFFICE-1367). But that is not really necessary, because if one searches for the term contour in the specification, one finds several attributes that state that if the attribute has a particular value, the contour will be considered. So, given the defect report does not ask what a contour is, but how it is determined, I would not add that note.

Errata 02 - ODF 1.2 Reconciliation:
There is no action taken on this issue for Errata 02. There is nothing in ODF 1.2 that would change that response.
